7 – The Frozen Keep

Chapter 1

Floating amongst the ice of the northern sea, far from the coast of Atlas’ northern continent. Far from anything that could be called civilisation was a place that hides secrets. A place constructed long ago, during war, during change, a time that had many struggles, many problems.

The exact location of this place is ever changing as it drifts around the ocean, slowly making it’s way like a piece of flotsam, aimless and inconspicuous if not for the flames of life that are dotted across an enormous glacier. Any ship passing during the day would be forgiven for not spotting the walls of stone and mortar that rise up along two sides of the glacier, the remaining walls carved purely from the ice. Few people know the secrets that are contained within, only heads of state and high ranking military personnel understand that this floating castle is in actual fact a prison complex, and even fewer people know the inmates of this place.

6 – A Stop in Talon

Chapter 1

Lightening crackled at her fingertips. Her hands hung by her side and the tingle of the dancing light caused her to flinch. The lightening stopped momentarily as she continued to walk. Nobody had seemed to notice, not even she seemed to realise the burst of energy from her hands. A few steps further down the path accompanied by the sound of hooves stepping on cobbles and the silent crackle of lightening returned to her fingers. She didn’t look down, nor did she raise her hands, the feeling was like pins and needles, an everyday feeling that needed no investigation. She clenched her fists a few times, letting the blood rush back to her palms and the energy died away once more.
